GemWing is based in Chicago and created by jewelry and sculpture artist, Syd. All pieces are created with glass beads and strong polyester threads are handknotted, looped, and beaded by Davis with importance of using materials that are hypoallergenic.

GemWing nests in nostalgia and playfulness of creating wearable lightweight sculptures that evoke unique gem worlds, dream scapes, imaginative organisms, and youthful play. Each piece floats like its own mircoworld or the weird beings that may live in a GemWing atmosphere.

There are influences from sculpture, weaving, processing emotion, line drawings, mirco-organisms, eco-shapes, gravity, and the illusion of suspension in time as if cradled in place by an invisible presence or air.
